The launch of the new academy is contingent upon enrolling at least 100 students before its official opening, and families are encouraged to apply early.

Great Hearts Christian Academies is known for its commitment to a classical curriculum that integrates faith and reason, helping students develop wisdom, virtue, and a love for learning. The South Mountain campus will follow this model, offering a rigorous, literature-rich program that challenges students to think deeply while cultivating a Christ-centered culture. The school will emphasize Christian teachings, character formation, and service to others, ensuring that students not only receive a strong academic foundation but also grow in their faith.

Dan Scoggin, Co-Founder of Great Hearts, expressed the school’s dedication to the community, stating that, “Education is an act of love. One that enriches human dignity and prepares students for a lifetime of learning and leadership. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that families in the South Mountain area have access to a high-quality Christian education. To make this possible, the new private academy will offer various financial aid opportunities, making it accessible to families from all economic backgrounds.

Scoggin also highlighted the strength of the partnership between Great Hearts and Open Sky Education, noting that together, they are well-positioned to bring a renaissance of classical Christian education to Phoenix. “Great Hearts and Open Sky are optimally poised to lead a classical renaissance in Christian education in Phoenix. Great Hearts, which started in Phoenix, is the leading provider of classical education nationally, serving 30,000 students. Open Sky Education operates six private, Christian schools in Wisconsin and public charter schools in Arizona for grades K-8. Between the two non-profit organizations, we have 40 years of experience operating the best schools in the country.”

Beyond academics, the school aims to be a vibrant faith-filled community where families, students, and educators are united in the pursuit of wisdom and virtue. Scoggin described the school as more than just a place of learning, but a place where deep relationships are formed, rooted in a shared commitment to Christ and classical education.

Enrollment for the fall of 2025 is now open. Because the school’s launch depends on enrollment, early applications are encouraged. Families interested in learning more or applying can visit https://christossouthmountain.greatheartsamerica.org/ or call (602) 819-4796.
